View Full Version : Q about storing home-made bars

I am allergic to something in the store bought bars such as Kashi, Powerbar, Luna, Balance, etc. So, I resorted to concocting my own bar this weekend. Which, I am aware, is nothing new or earth shattering!

However, I was wondering if there was anyone who has settled on the best way to store these things and how long they will keep for. The base or 'glue' holding these together is mainly PB, some honey, and a little brown sugar. The other stuff is just cereals, nuts, and dried fruit. Currently, I wrapped them individually in plastic wrap and put them in the 'fridge. Better idea for storage? Is freezing good? I ended up with 36 bars (yikes).

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I did search the forum and could not find an answer to my question. So either I completely missed it :o or the answer does not appear in print, and alas is in someone's brain... :)

There are half-size sandwich bags available that's pretty handy. Put about 3-5 tablespoons per bag and wrap the bag around and use it to shape the bar (kinda like rolling sushi). Then toss in fridge to harden and store.
