My resting metabolic rate is 2470. Based on weight gain/loss over the last 3 months (using a power meter to gauge calorie expenditure riding), my non-cycling burn for 24 hrs is around 2800 calories per day (just under 400 more than RMR).
I dunno, I did 50 miles on Saturday but ate an Oyster Po' Boy. :D That's 2500 kcal plus 2000 to stay alive. What did that Po' Boy cost me? :D $10 and 2000 kcal?
Man do I love to eat.

For me, about 2400 Calories is maintenance. I aim for about 2000/day to lose some excess weight. :)

Now that June is over, I'll post some stats for me:
Starting Weight (avg last 4 days of May): 169
Ending Weight (avg last 4 days of the month): 168
(excess calories burned: 3500ish)
Average daily consumption: 4159 kcal
Average daily output (riding): 1690 kcal
Average daily burn rate: 4159-1690 = 2469 + 3500/30 = 2585 kcal per day.
My RMR was measured as 2470, so I can make a reasonable assumption and say I burn roughly an extra 116 kcal per day doing whatever it is that I do. (I have a pretty sedentary office type job).
my RMR is around 2200'ish. i most days i am very active. i ride and run days i take in at least 3000 calories. after dropping 70 lbs in 2006 i have been holding steady in the 170 to 175 lbs range. cool idea to wear the polar all day. what did you HR max out at? later.
