Hi all-
First off, I'm a fairly neo-cyclist. I bought a used mtn bike a few years ago from a teenager who'd outgrown it- I'm past outgrowing things, if you know what I mean. I used it a few times, but it mainly gathered dust in the garage. Last year I started riding again, mostly on the bike paths near my house. Gradually I'm finding myself riding more (when I have time), and have started commuting to work a couple days a week.
This looks like a great place to learn more about cycling & bikes in general, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome Molly~~~ I am new too, and your story sounded all to familiar~~ Am learning a lot from the postings~~ How is the traffic on your trip to work~~ I have one intersection that makes me white around the lips each trip~~ Otherwise, no obstacles other than anticyclists~~ ouch~~
Come on in a sit a spell~~ Take a load off~

Traffic is usually pretty good. I tend go somewhat early, and then stay at work a bit late to avoid the worst of the rush-hour crowd, and the one bad intersection I cross I'll use the cross-walk for 2 sides. Every other cyclist I've seen does the same, as it seems safer than trying to make a left hand turn across 2 lanes of traffic.
Good Luck!
