Does anyone know anything about shimano 422? I have a bridgestone with downtube friction shifters and the only thing on them are the 422 and shimano. The front derailluer has just the word shimano on it and the rear says light action. They seem to work pretty good but I was wondering about reliability and quality. I was thinking of rebuliding with some nice nos 600 stuff, any opinions!

If I remember, that was some of the mid-priced stuff shimano made about 1980.
Bridgestone's are very well respected frames. What model is it?

It is a 1986 bridgestone 300. The complete bike had only about 40 miles on it when I got it 2 months ago. I bought it for a rain bike but after I cleaned it all up it was way too nice . I converted the 27" wheel setup to 700 c and put on a new saddle, handlebars&tape & computer it is imacculate. I dont have a scanner or digi camera or there would be pics posted.
