Classic & Vintage - Holdsworth frameset

Hi guy's, I'm new to this forum and i was wondering if the knowledgeable among you can help me.

I've recently bought a "Holdsworth" racing bike. It has a 24.5" frame and is painted black with white decals. I was told it was manufactured around the early to mid eighties.

My problem is that i cannot find any info about this bike anywhere on the net. The closest description is the "Holdsworth Professional 346" which was available at:

As it's labelled "Professional" can i assume the frame is made of Reynolds or something similar?

The bike has been stripped completely. Minus the front forks and B/B set the frame weighs approx 3.5-4.0 lbs.

What diameter seatpost does it take? 27.2mm probably indicates a butted Reynolds main triangle, whereas 26.4mm is more typical of straight-gauge Reynolds, and an even smaller diameter probably indicates plain carbon steel.

Post us some pictures. If it's a Professional, it's almost certainly Reynolds 531, but I'm not familiar with what Falcon might have used if yours is indeed a 1987 Falcon-built model. It can also be a resprayed bike (now black) with replacement decals but from an earlier era...that's where pics, and a serial number, will help. Fine bikes, I love my Holdsworth Super Mistral and Touring bikes.

Thanks for the response guys! The seatpost measred 27.2mm I believe the frame has had a recent respray because the s/n digits are impossible to make out. I'm replacing the front forks as they're quite heavy (not Reynolds??). Will try to send some piccys.

"Usually" Reynolds forks will be stamped as such on the steerer tube down near the crown race.
