Hi! - I’ve been invited by the forum moderator to give a brief bio, so here goes.

I'm from central New Jersey where there (contrary to popular opinion) there is some very nice riding country (we don’t all live off an exit on the Jersey Turnpike). I’ll be 60 this summer and I’ve been riding for about 25 years.

I own three bikes, a Trek 5200, a Litespeed Classic and a home built mountain bike (Airborne Ti frame, XTR, Judy).

The Trek is my favorite bike and I’ve put about 47k miles on it since I bought it new in 1994. I bought the Litespeed in 1998 and it has about 3k miles. Don’t be put off by the low miles on the LS, I like the bike well enough, I just like the Trek better.

I built the mountain bike two years ago and it only has maybe 50 miles on it. I have a bias for road bikes, probably because NJ doesn’t have many places for mountain biking. It a standing joke in NJ that the only way SUV owners get to go off road is to drive over somebody’s lawn (there's some truth to that!). I don’t have a strong interest in mountain biking, too many years on the road I guess.

I usually take at least one organized tour each year and every other year take a two/three week trip somewhere I haven’t been before. I’ll be on the Bike Maryland tour this year (July 19-26). Next year it’s Tuscany, Italy for three weeks or maybe Portugal with several others from my office.

As for occupation, I'm a Systems Administrator for a non-profit law firm (Public Defenders Office).

Thanks for the welcome!

Al

Hi Al, many welcomes from a fellow 5200 owner. I got mine last year, and I'm loving every moment on it thus far! :)
