does anyone know or could suggest a good tire, im currently working on converting a old fuji road bike into a fixed gear city/park/go anywear beast! its going to be sweet. the bike has 27" rims and some really large calipers. i plan on keeping one break, i have done the breakless thing in the past and ruined a few good shoes when i broke a chain. anyways i want to find a tire with a descent tread but small width that can fit on a 27" rim

most tires come in varied widths... a nice all arounder is a ritche speed max pro or proc comp tire they cost between 10-20 dollars a tire. Great for the price. I like em, and not super super wide.

I bought some Kenda 27" cyclocross tires from Biketiresdirect.com. They were pretty inexpensive.

I've used the cheap kenda tires. They work alright but wear quickly when used on the road.

What did you end up using? I'm in the same dilema as you were. I don't mind using cruiser tires, but I'd rather have something with a little bite.

BikeTiresDirect had a Kenda model that fit the 27" (630) rim for like $15 each. Not bad at all.
