I just ordered it from the actual factory in Turin. Have been corresponding with Alfredo. Here's the frame that's en route. Does anyone know about this? I have never seen a GIOS with the frame fins (or whatever you call those)

It's my size, a pista, and 1980s. So I bought it. :)

The fins are gussets. That is a really beautiful track frame.

i'm blue with envy ;)
they have that kind of stuff lying around in old stock?
Are you in the States or Europe or? I've been wondering if Gios was approachable direct as I'm interested in a frame that does not get imported here. So far Excel has ignored my requests for info, and all they carry anymore is one frame model. Can you elaborate on your dealings.
Also, that is a very cool pista frame! I'd like to know what other vintage stuff they have around.

Thanks! Just got back from a kick ass backpacking trip so I have been out a few days. I just got word that the frame will be here tomorrow or Mon. I have pooped my pants three times already, I'm just too anxious.
Otis, it was such a shot in the dark, I went to the Gios.it web site. I went to the contact page and initially emailed to see if they had any old pista frames lying around. I think I got really lucky. Alfredo Gios himself emailed me back and said he will look in the factory. Next day he wrote back and there you have it. He sent me this photo. My size, everything. I wired him the money. There was a little delay in shipping, he said there was a small scratch in the paint on the fork, so they needed to touch it up. Anyway, I'll post more when I get her.

Cool, I'm going to email the old man. I'm sick of waiting for Excel to reply. Thanks.

I'm just gonna build it up and have fun with it. I am so pumped. Should be ready to ride next week.

man you scored, that is the hottest track frame I have seen in a long time. Are you going to use campagnolo record?

Campy Record Pista crank just came in today. I sorta wish I could find NOS, but I'm gonna keep my eyes open.

You can strip the anodizing and polish.. I did on my track bike, I ride mine enough that NOS doesn't make any sense, the price would be too high and as soon as I mount it, it's not NOS.

oh yeah, they're not even track cranks. I filed off the inner ring flanges, at my height I wanted 170mm anyway.
