The Paramount sounds like the MTB, as I'm not sure any of the road bikes were aluminum with that name? The Prelude is a nice machine! I have one made a couple of years before yours. I believe they changed to the red and yellow accents after this style? There is (or was) one on the local Craigslist very much like the one you're describing.,,,,BD

The 754 was designed by the Paramount Group but in fact is not a Paramount. It was part of the first aluminum bikes sold by Schwinn and was second fron the top in that line up. Both are good riding road bikes. Roger

bike #1 Marked Schwinn Aluminum Paramount 754 Numbers On Bottom Of Crank Area K8020--a "blue Frame"... Bike #2 Marked Schwinn Prelude Numbers From Bottom Of Crank Area F7308'K8' is an October of '88 build for an '89 model (the prior year was called Avion -- in the catalog only I think -- there was a lawsuit and it was then renamed Ontare):

'F7' is a June of of '87 build (sorry, no catalog link).
Check the headbadges for a light, four digit stamping. This will be the assembly date code. The first three digits are the ordinal day of the year ('360' = the 360th day of the year), the last digit is the last digit of the year ('7' = 1987).

A fair price mostly depends on your market. Check out Craig's List and see what similar bikes are going for in your area. You can also search completed auctions on ebay.
I ride that same Prelude (or at least the frame) and love it. It's the color scheme you desribe and is an '88.

In the later '80s Schwinn seemed to get the Japanese frames assembled quite a bit later than the date the frames were made. Then again, I'm not sure this is a Japanese frame. Still curious about the assembly code numbers ... :)
