Every Fourth of July we have this huge picnic where all the people we grew up with come back. No matter where they have moved to, they all come home. Some come from as far as Japan. They fiind a way to show up for this wonderful reunion. :)

What are your plans?

I dunno, when's the fourth of July?

Ohhh.

:p

I don't have any specific plans. I might sit around and do a movie marathon. Or laundry. So exciting!

Concerts in the Garden, and dinner party at friends house.

I am going to find a British merchant ship, hopefully one owned by Lord Tipton, and toss it's cargo into the harbor.

Maybe he's talking about Lord Glenn Tipton.

Ride to a huge Parade, one of the oldest in the country, with a million other intersting bikes and cyclists.

Then pig out at the cookout. Then ride to the fireworks.

I'm going to get drunk and blow off two fingers and a toe with a cherry bomb. Then I'll hit a truck while driving myself to the emergency clinic.

Blow Up Copious Amounts Of Stuff!!!

For real, my crew and I usually throw every spare cent we have at explosives. And one of my friends is a licensed pyrotechnician with wholesale access to everything from industrial blasting goods to professional aerial displays.

Trying to avoid the crowds here in the Cradle of Liberty, but definitely a nice long, early morning ride, maybe to Valley Forge (gotta pay respects to the real George W, ya know :)). Fireworks at night (without sitting through the Hall and Oates show- too crowded). Then packing for Amsterdam!

Playing tennis with my tennis group for the first time in six months -- it should be quite ugly and brutal. :o

Then I'm gonna join my tennis group for our 60th annual 4th of July picnic. My German friends will join me, as they play with this group every time they're here.

I will not be riding, though, as I have no desire to run across delinquent teens with fireworks ("Hey, let's see if we can hit that moving target with these Roman candles!") or drunk drivers....

If they are up between 6 am and 10 am, then they can take aim and fire at me.

That's called interval drills.

No definite plans at the moment.
Depending on what the wife and kid want to do, I may try to get in a 40 miler.

A bunch of reading to do and then the fun task of trying to coax the dog out to pee with all the stupid firecrackers going off. Not a fan of the fourth.

Metric century on the fifth, though. That's better.

On July the 4th, I will be working a 12-hour shift, splitting the 24-hour day with my co-worker so others can have the day off. I regularly work on holidays.

The downside of my schedule is I will be working on the holiday when everyone else is off. The upside is I will only be working 3 days this week due to filling in so there is some give and take.

Going to put a quick 20 miles on the Aegis. Get cleaned up after the ride...shower, shave and a haircut. Then get dressed up in Legion uniform and hit the fairgrounds as part of the honor guard for tonight's festivities. Then kick back and enjoy the fireworks. After that we'll go home and fire off our own fireworks in celebration of the 231st year of our nation.

Do you know how to make taboulleh? I like it but I buy it from a organic store.

I need to make my on hummus as well. I don't like it grainy but smooth like icecream.
