Here in Sioux City the only I know of is the Sioux City Journal, our local news paper and A mention of La's position on the morning sports report on one of the radio stations.

I think it sucks big time that there is no mention at all on Lance on the TV news stations. Not even a 5 second mention of his current position in the race.

I asked a sportscaster on time why. His response/poor excuse was there is to many local sports to report on so there is no time. I told him B.S. I've seen times when you've had as part of your sports report info. on the current standings for Wimbledon, the U.S. Golf open, even Nascar. And this was on top of all of the local sports you had to report on. So don't tell me there's no time to do a 5 second report on Lance's position in the peleton. He had no response or excuse after that.

How about in your area?

Not much here in Cleveland, either. No mention in the papers at least the days I've checked. I did order OLN on the satellite.

I don't think there is much interest in cycling, if there were, it would be covered. And quite honestly I bet most people (99% of them) are unaware the tour is going on right now. And for most in the "know" I doubt they could name one current cyclist on the tour beside Lance, and I doubt most folks don't even know Lance.

Conversely, as you mention the PGA, Tennis, and Nascar I doubt you will find many folks who don't know at least several of the key players in those fields.

Perhaps some day cycling will advance in the ranks of pro sports, but for now I'll just have to put it on par with bowling, darts, and roller blading. At least as far as TV and print coverage goes.

I do expect to see more towards the end of the tour if Lance is a contender.

I don't subscribe to the local papers, so I'm not certain about them, but there's NOTHING on the local TV news. I agree that a 5 second mention would be nice. :(

The atlanta constitution does a short blurb daily. Don't watch tv so have no clue about the coverage there

The Los Angeles Times and our local paper, The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin are both covering it, the local paper the lesser of the coverage.

Don't know about the greater LA TV stations though--we have no cable or broadcast TV.

It's funny--the local paper has had something in the paper everyday, that I have seen, but one day it was just a little blurb in their compendium of sports results (miniaturely printed).

Since Lance came from Plano, we get alot of
coverage here in the Dallas area, local paper
has daily updates, and feature stories not just about
Lance. There is a writer who actually seems to know
what he is talking about!
The T.V. news (local) report on the Tour, but for the
most part these guys and gals have no clue, if it
wasn't on the teleprompter they'd never know the Tour
was on.

All in all I'd say that we are pretty lucky in the Dallas area.

Our local paper, The Sun-Sentinel, has daily updates, what appears to be the regular AP update from John Leicester, that runs all over the place.

One of our local TV stations, runs a brief update at the end of the sports segment, but,... apparently the sprint the other day was won by Alessandro "Battaglia".

Close enough?? Typical.

I haven't seen anything in the papers about it(I don't get a newspaper!), but a few months ago The Philedelphia Inquirer did an article on Floyd Landis. I heard some TDF stuff on KYW 1060 for a few seconds. I don't watch too much TV, but CNN headline news had some stuff and Comcast Sports Net had a few minutes.
