Yes, I've done a search. Lots of searching. Found many tubulars and cheaper clinchers with little feedback (Panaracer Pasela?)

My choices at the moment are the Continental Grand Prix and the Veloflex Pave Open. The GP is nice and I've ridden it before but I'm not liking the darker wall. The Veloflex is nice and I'm searching for a good local deal.

Other ideas? Would prefer to stick with a 25mm or less.

Thanks.

OFG - Are these what you have on your Cinelli?

These guys have the Pave in Black/Tan for $39.99 plus shipping. You can order through them by calling them directly or going through Amazon.com.

The Cinelli has tubulars on it. They are original Italian Vittoria Corsa CG & CX. No longer available, as far as I know.

I'm getting the Veloflex for the De Rosa, they come highly recommended, especially with a latex tube.

Try the Vredestein Fortezzas. They are available from biketiresdirect.com for about $30. If you want the tan skinwalls, only size they are available is 700x25. These tires generally get very good reviews.

Also check out Panaracer Pasela TG folding version. They are available at lickbike.com for $24.50. Only in size 700x28 but according to Lick, they fit like 25s. Would probably wear better than the Vredesteins but not handle as well.

Finally, the Rivendell Roly-Polys also get good reviews. They are actually made by Panaracer. Not available in sizes less than 700x27, however, and cost $40 apiece.

I have heard very good reviews about the Veloflex Pave tires, but they run narrower than most. That's fine if you like a narrow tire, but they would definitely run narrower than the others mentioned.

I'd go for the Panaracer Paselas. In fact, I think I'll order some for my Carlton tonight. I have the wired version of the 27X1 on my PX10 and they ride well and have the right look. I always worry about pinch flats with such a narrow tire, but it hasn't happened.

CritUAS@aol.com has clinchers and tubulars a 10-15 % less. He doesn't have a website so just email him your queries directly.

I have had the colored (yellow & orange)Vredestein Fortezza twice in 700X23 & liked them. Both times I got 2 tires for $20 at a swap meet. My LBS sells them for $39.95 each! My Zeus came with Specialized Touring II tanwalls in 700 X25 & I like them but suspect they are an older tire that isn't available anymore although I haven't searched yet.

I just bought a wired Panaracer Pasela 700c x 25 from JensenUSA for $16. I had flipped a bike but kept the wheelset. I used one gumwall on another bike I sold and the remaining one on my commuter. It turned out to be a good tire so I'm trying the Pasela to get a somewhat matched pair.

I have Fortezza SE black/blue tires and they great if a little heavy. PerfromanceBike has them from $18 - $24.

I have some 27" Continental 1000 but haven't put enough miles on them to evaluate. The gumwall/tan is very dark. They were about $12 at Nashbar.
