I just wanted to thank you all for your advice and input. I bought my bike. Ended up with a Specialized Rockhopper and I love it so far.

I've had some minor things go bad like brake pads offset so they rub and on a fall i broke the front brake cable a little, nothing too bad. The front deralier has gotten a little out of wak. I am under the impression that this is normal for a new bike so i'm not worried about it, just fix it up and keep riding eh? :) I got my free tune up within the next couple months anyways so its all good.

thanks again all!

It seems that there are always a few bugs to work out of a newly built bike.

NEVER ride a bike for the first time on a BIG, Epic ride...you'll hate yourself....and for the first few rides don't stray TOO far from your main mode of transport (your car)...

Yah the shifting will get some bugs here and there before your first tune-up...But the brakepad thing shouldn't have happend. That's if it is a mis-alighned brake pad. Bring it back to the shop, if they are a good shop they'll take care of it in a few minutes at no charge. It could just be the wheel setting the spokes and the wheel might be a little outa true(that should be fixed in your tune-up) and that could cause the brake pad rubbing.

Glad to hear ya got a new bike! Congrats!
