Is it me or does Robbie do a lot of whining and whinging?
seems he is always blaming someone else for his
failure to take a stage.
this year he has blamed The Gerolsteiner rider for missing
(albeit there was alot of shoulder rubbing).
Whined about Robbie Hunter crowding him and keeping him
off of Petachi's wheel.
*****ed and moaned about none of the French teams
chasing a break (which would keep the sprinters out) even
tho it was their own riders in the break.

I think if he would just shut up and ride, he'd get alot
more respect.

Did he do more complaining today or what?

He needs to get with a stronger team. He'll never be able to do that if he doesnt quiet down though. They wont want to put up with him.

It's not you. He is a whiner.

A very fast whiner - but a whiner none the less.

I get the same impression... kind of like it's never his fault. 'If everybody else had rode slower, I would have won!'

It's too bad... makes it hard to appreciate his talent.

I would usually agree with him being a whiner ....

But he took some responsibility today... from cycling news:

McEwen: "I don't deserve Green"
Sprinter Robbie McEwen of the Lotto-Domo team came to the Tour to win a few stages, and as yet he hasn't achieved this. He is starting to doubt himself, as he told Belgian TV1 after today's stage. "If you can't finish better than fifth or sixth all the time, you don't deserve the Green. You have to be honest with yourself," he commented.

"I am not concentrating really on the Green Jersey as yet. The team has worked really hard again but I couldn't finish it again...maybe it's got something to do with self-confidence? Was I doubting myself in the back of my mind?"

"It will be hard for them to work this hard again tomorrow. Lotto rode on the front for me for 160km, but we got nothing for it. Petacchi went really early. I waited a too long and Petacchi just flew past me with Kirsipuu in his wheel. Petacchi is clearly the best sprinter in the Tour."

Team director Marc Sergeant added, "We need to sympathise with the riders today, it was so hot and they did a lot of work. Petacchi is just too strong. There's nothing to be done about this 'gentleman sprint' of his."

"The team worked well again and McEwen was positioned perfectly before the bend by Van Bon. Robbie took the bend nicely and it looked good. But Petacchi came around them easily, took the lead and then they're all lost. I think they will have to handle the sprints differently. Robbie is getting frustrated with the way things are going, I think all the other sprinters would feel the same though."

I thought his comments about the dude who went down were quite funny. Lotto-Domo have built their tour around McEwan winning stages and Pertacci is in better form at the moment. I think a certain amount of his reaction is personality and another hunk is the theatre of bike racing. Sometimes what he says makes me grimace, sometimes it makes me smile - whatever he says - to do what those boys do in the last 400-500 metres is right out there IMOH and takes a special streak of insanity, good luck to 'em I say.

I agree with everyone here. He should just race and work hard. He's an exceptionally fast rider and very skilled. He should stop making excuses and let his sprinting do all of the talking.

to me it seems, that McEwen is a bit to hard and unfair. He often rushes in holes which donīt really exist. The result are crashes like the one Haselbacher (Gerolsteiner) had. Leblanc should have an eye on him a bit more.
