Northeast - Vermont riders?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've been at this for about a year now. Started with Bianchi Volpe and now on Orbea Onix w/Ultegra. Giving the Volpe to my Boston bound son.
Rode the Volpe last year in the Tour de Cure and the MS Tour (first day 40 mi., second day 45 mi). Will be riding the MS Tour this time (Aug 11 and 12) with the ChainWringers.
So - any Vermont riders here?

Awe yea!
It would be terrific if I could locate someone who is fairly new at road bike riding, as am I, and who'd like to do some rides as short as 20 mile and as long as 50 miles in the area around Chittenden County (Burlington, Essex, etc) and maybe northern New York.
Anyone?

Are any of you Vermonters doing the Vermont Lakes Region Cycling Weekend July 14-15? I'm from SE PA, and I'm looking forward to two days in the Green Mountains.
Don't know about it. Where does it start, where does it end, and how long is the ride? Supported or on your own?
This year can't do because of prior commitments. Maybe next season.

There was some interest in 6 gaps in early September...

Don't know if I will have the time but I hope to get it done...

I assume this refers to my post. It's a weekend trip, with 2 days of out & back routes (with several options for mileage and terrain each day) from Poultney, VT. Here's the web site: http://www.cyclingvermont.org/

Checking in here from the Brandon area. Such a beautiful state to live and ride in.

Such a beautiful state to live and ride in.
Sure is. We had a wonderful time, riding 60 miles Saturday and 51 miles Sunday, on constantly-rolling terrain, through quiet farm land, lush fields, and little crossroad towns, little traffic. Roads aren't in the best shape, however, a fact made evident when we passed over into New York.

One big BUMP, I just joined and I live in the chittenden county and I'm looking for anyone that wants to ride.
Hi there,
I grew up in Essex but now I'm away at school. I did a lot of riding last summer and if anybody hasn't checked it out, definitely ride the App. Gap at least once this summer. The roads through Richmond and Buels Gore are great with very little traffic and it's a great climb.
Have Fun!

My car club does cruises through the app gap but I haven't been able to make it myself at all yet but like you said, I hear its beautiful
Yeah, I'm in the area, your son's going to have a good time on that bike in and around boston, I'm up here summers and down there winters, and if there's one accessory that bike would love (unless it's going to live in his appt./dorm and only go out for a workout) it's a good strong U lock with a frame mount.

just got back on the bike after a long 30 year hiatus. Been having fun riding in the area. I did one of the Green Mountain Bike Club Sunday rides a month ago which was nice - otherwise just out on my own.
Did my first ride up app gap yesterday from Richmond - ughh - have a ways to go as one young guy flew by me on the ride up 17 to the summit.
