So skinny has a wedding to go to this friday and its between a pink tie or a pink shirt.. Personally he thinks the pink shirt is not going to go well with the charcoal suit with cream pin stripes.. He thinks a baby pink tie would be excellent but friendly girls are a split with 2 of them saying yay and two of them going nicht nicht.. what does foo think?

Pink tie sounds cool, i mean it is manly color right? .
Basically you just want attention, especially from the chicks, and want to show that you're in touch with your other side. So do it.

They also say that Pink is in this season, apparently..
edit: for straight guys that is..
If by pink shirt, you mean white shirt, and by pink tie, you mean black tie, wear them both!

I didnt say I wanna look like Rodney Dangerfield :) ..
^^^^^^
Even in Caddy Shack, Rodney dressed better than that.
What Siu said, pink tie with gray accents.
Light pink shirt definitely.
*Sigh*
Pink isn't a good color, on men or women.
But if you must, make it pale.

Why not a black shirt with a pink tie? Black with charcoal looks awesome, and the pink tie will make, shall we say, a statement.

I think you guys missed the joke. Rainbow colors... you know ... Rainbow. What else does rainbow colors remind you of? The same type of person that would wear pink is probably flying a rainbow colored flag as well.

Pink is one of the ass-ugliest clown colors any human can wear.

WARNING: Fuddy-duddy alert here. The Following post has been submitted by an almost 50 year old luddite curmudgeon who remembers when all TV's were black-and-white, when you had to walk all the way across the room to change the channel, and when kids all walk five miles through the snow to school, uphill both ways.
Uh, this is a wedding you're going to, not a pick-up bar or a lounge-lizard convention. (Okay, that's a little harsh - sorry.:o ) The point is you should not look like the idea of "standing out" even crossed your mind - doesn't matter if it really did or not, I'm talking about what someone else will see when they look at you. This is an event for understated elegance, not fashion-plate edginess.
The charcoal pinstripe suit is a great start. Make the shirt basic, boring white. Not cream, eggshell, ecru, or off-white, but white. The kind of white that is blinding in the wrong light. (White is about all I have in the way of dress shirts - it makes color coordinating much easier in the morning when I am not usually at my best.)
As for the tie, you can be a little bolder there, but pink? I'm thinking a nice red or burgundy pattern - it stands out, looks really good with chargoal gray, but fits in with the "understated elegance" mode. Such a combo shows respect for the occasion, won't put off the traditionalists, and won't bore the more sartorially adventurous, especially if you can find an appropriate hankie or pocket square for the jacket pocket. (Very few men do this anymore, and it can look really good and really distinctive, in a suitably subtle way.)
And don't even get me started on appropriate formal wear for men . . . .
Cream shirt, pink tie with grey accents in the tie.
If you have to wear pink I'm with Siu.

I think wearing a pink tie is sort of stretching it a bit…

I have a pink shirt / pink tie combo that I wear with a navy suit that looks really good. I wear it to fancy occasions. The only pic I found with that suit on is below. I cropped and blew up the suit for you to see better. The shirt also happens to be french-cuffed but I forgot to bring cufflinks with me on that trip.
