In 4 years of road cycling, I had my first spill last week, at low speed. Hit a patch of mud when I was clipping back in at a green light, with cars behind me.

Here are the pics of the carnage. Enjoy!

so this is a friend of mine, but on a make-shift parking lot crit we were having, he managed to cut a corner too quick and smack head-on into a curb, causing this...

which ain't no biggie... slight fracture though, but the real sadness was this, his brand new indie fab...

heh. The crash pics on this thread reminded me for some reason, of the time a maniac friend of mine who hadn't met my gf yet stopped over our place for the first time. He was on his way back from camping. While camping, he got all f*cked up on Jack, and decided it would help get some wet fire wood going by taking the gas tank off his motorcycle and pouring fuel on the fire. WHUMP! Other people who were there told me about later, they said there were flaming foot prints all the way to the lake, which was fortunately only a couple hundred yards away. Anyway, he shows up at my house with all his hair burned off, and some 1st and 2nd degree burns that were seeping. He never went to a hospital, just smeared ointment on himself that he got at Rite-Aid, My gf freaked ("THESE ARE YOUR FRIENDS!?"), he looked like something out of a horror movie

Last week. pulled up over a little hill that happened to have a 15 foot drop on the other side. Just caught the front tire on the ground as I went over the handlebars still clipped in. The scrapes went down my rear end too but I guess I probably can't post that on here.

Lots of roadrash resulting in throwing out bloody socks and soaking the bike shoes to get the blood out - my boo boos were internal - namely the ribs.

hehe, it's not good to have the main doctor in the emergency room bring over the x-rays and hold them up to you and point - See this? These are your ribs - all these are broken - and this one is crushed -- you've broken that one too many times. And this is a BAAAAD picture.

Very sad when you pay a shat load for a hand built frame and this happens to it, but the wheels which I guess took the impact looks relatively ok.

I have seen a similar scenario here. Hand built frame rooted (not snapped) and wheels fine. Wheels must be incredibly strong.

^^ justifying every roadies shaving habits right there.

I have no pics of bike crashes - my biggest one was about 15years ago when I shaved my elbow bone flat (ground down when skidding across a street).

However I learned that if they are going to bandage your legs in the hospital (after my motorcycle accident) and I'm awake for it (I was) they darn well better shave the entire area. I had a HELL of a time removing the layers of tape they used to hold the gauze on my shin!
