Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Commercial tours seem pretty expensive to me, and I think a lot of us here have ideas as to how to organize tours. Would it make sense for us to oranize our own tours and run them? For example we could decide to tour some area that had air service from southwest airlines. We could wait until the city in question was the destination of the week and make reservations. Local members could help us set up a sag wagon and we could take turns driving the sag wagon. We could identify modestly priced hotels and get a good rate for bringing a group.

For tours of Europe we could turn to those among us who have ventured over there, and work to get some good deals. Again, one or more of us could rent a vehicle for a sag wagon, and bring a bike rack.

Any thoughts on how to enhance this idea, or bring it clsooer to fruition?
