Any suggestions for routes out of Columbus? I ride out to Plain City via Hilliard bike path and also along the Olentangy path but they're getting old, especially when I'm looking to ride 60-75 miles.

This morning I road a large loop around Rickenbacker airfield, S of Columbus. Total of 45 mi. which could have easily been extended. Virtually no traffic and some very new roads. A portion of this ride started off TOSRV.

Sunday I went up the Olentangy Bike path then wound my way up through Worthington Hills, over and down through Dublin and on down Dublin Road. Added some hills in Grandview for fun.

There are some nice routes you can put together out East from Bexley to Johnstown to Granville. Also North around Powell/Delaware.
btw - I start all my rides in the Victorian Village area.

I live in Victorian Village, and will usually drive out to the west side on weekends. I will start out at Roberts and Rome-Hilliard. Only bad stretch of road is Roberts, but I always get a somewhat early start so the traffic is not too bad.
I head out to Scioto & Darby Creek Road and head west to the other side of 42. I've found a number of good routes. Roads are generally good, and the traffic is lights. Lots of route options.

I work and usually ride in New Albany, so I can also speak for some good ride in this area, and there are some hills the closer yoiu get to Hoover Dam.
I will occasionally ride the Olentagy trail, depending on the time of the day. It can get too crowded, and seems like everytime I get on it, there's a portion closed. I usually end it with doing the hills in Grandview, though not enough, obviously. I had my tail kicked in last weeks' race. What a way to get back in to racing after a seven year layoff!

Use the "search on map" feature of mapmyride.com
First, zoom the map to show the region you are interested in. Then pull down the Find menu and select "Show public routes on map" Change the minimum and maximum mileage to match what you are looking for. You get a marker for the starting location of each route. Click it to see it's length, description and link.
Head out west of Plain City, pretty much everything but Route 42 is low traffic. Lot's of good rides around West Jefferson as well.

It looks like there is a good half dozen of us with pretty much similar rides. For all that Columbus gets frustrating, there is some nice cycling when you get outside the outerbelt. We should gather a group ride.
I'd be honored to ride with anyone whose handle is a Unix command, let alone one for the obliteration of everything!

there's good riding in the city too, just have to know what roads to use
north south use dublin rd, 4th, summit, olentangy, high st, and even cleveland ave
east west use sullivant, broad, 5th, etc
just stay clear of the 45mph divided thoroughfares, some of those arent for the faint of heart
