I went and looked at the 03's and while looking real good at the paint job i noticed how badly the decals look. They dont fool you at all, they are decals.Thick and not done very well.I even noticed two next to each other and the decals on the front forks were different. Not what i really like to see on that bike.My felt and cannondale, you cant tell if they are painted on or decaled and run your fingers ocer them and you cant tell. The lemond was vart thick, almost plastic like and my finger nail could easily scrape it off.

Yep, I know what you mean. I've already scratched decals and paint, mostly from the Zefal pump that I tried to put on the top tube.
The brake cable braze-ons are too close to the bottom of the top tube and the pump won't seat properly. Why the pump nipple if you can't get a pump to fit?
I haven't tried the Blackburn yet.
If it gets to dinged up and I keep the bike, maybe some wild custom paint job.

Shok.. yeah.. I've discovered that the paint on my lemond Maillot Jaune is pretty soft... it kinda sucks.. because the bike is so great... the only downside i've seen so far

A guy bought a Zurich at the same LBS, had it stripped down and powder coated and I believe he said it was $250.
I didn't see it, the store manager said it looked good.

As far as the pump thing goes, I scrapped the idea and picked up the threaded CO2 and spring loaded trigger deal. Haven't needed it yet...
I read a thread here about a mini pump, don't remember the name, that I'll probably pick up for back up.

The Zurich was a great deal so the scratches don't even bother me. Nothing a little black model paint won't solve.
No way is it worth painting, that money is better spent towards a new bike.
