Personally, I would (if you already have not) get a good road map of the front range. Also, which route are you wanting to take...to the east of Denver or along the foothills? Sorry, but it's been a long, long time since I've done that ride (although we did Ft. Collins to Cos). I seem to remember hitting Horsetooth res and then out east to Greely and then south (for a long time...lol) and back west through Golden and then south again. As long as you keep to frontage roads, and county roads, you should be good to go.
