BMX - Bike Weight?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey, my bike weights about 25-28 pds w/o chrome rims (I only have alloy rims at the moment)...How much does everyones weigh? How much is too much?
Thanks,
-Jason
very curious to hear weight of bikes as well. BMXers arent nearly as concerned about weight as mtbikers. Being a mtbiker I know weight is very important but I think its more important on a bmx b/c all the fun is in being in the air and the easiest way to get there is a less weight. my mtbike is ~25 lbs and cost me good money just to get there i cant see spening 600 or so to get a 40lbs bmx bike I need something nice and light( still looking any ideas)

I think my Mirra is pretty light. Never had it weighed, but I can pick it up over my head. And I'm a skinny piece of *****.
I always thought BMX bikes were light, then I picked one up!! I had a Diamondback Viper for awhile, and then it got stolen. But that is aside the point, my Viper was pretty light so I got the idea that all BMX bikes were. But my friend got some kinda MOSH for x-mas, and that bike was so darn heavy, couldn't figure out how in the world he got it off the ground. It must have weighed 40 pounds easy.

Also, I can only bunny hop about 4 inches. Although that could be from my major lack of skills and muscle. I guess I'm not cut out for this bike riding stuff. The only good thing is I've never broken anything in my life. It might be since I'm skinny but who knows? The "worst" thing that's happend is I sprained a finger once. oooh. So, maybe I can give it another try. Oh yeah, is it just me, or do you always feel scared when you do stuff. I always am scared I'm gonna crash and die. I think that's why I can't do anything. My life sucks. I need some help.
I'm always way scared man. Back when I would skateboard off my roof it would take me forever to work up the nerve. I had a thread in MTBing awhile back about being scared of jumps. I found that with jumps the best thing is to just do it. If you worry about falling and don't do the jump, well, you'll never find out if you CAN jump. I find that taking a jump fast is better, because I'm caught up with keeping my bike on track and stuff like that, so when I fall I'm not thinking about it. And when I'm not thinking about it, I don't get hurt as bad.

hey whats up!!! I race bmx and my bike weighs about 11 pounds I don't jump trails on it but in national races the jumps are pretty big . if the bike feels good i'd just train alot to be able to get it up you can change gears to make it easier to petal too.

42lbs and don't want to lose an ounce. When jumping it is all about forward momentum, not weight. Weight works in your advantage. You just need to gear your bike right so you can get it rolling and the rest is cake (and balls).

I Had this problem when i first started too. all i could do was was bunnyhop and stuff because everytime i headed for the ramp to do a 180 or whatever i just wouldnt do it cause i thought i would fall or crash. But then my friend built this big ramp (~4ft) and he jumped it and said i was scared. i just went for it and i was scared because of the 7ft drop(i must have went about 20mph) and i just flew. After that i wasnt scared to do anything. Did anyone have the problem of their bike always breaking when they just learned a new trick? i do and it sucks
Touch wood,
I haven't broken anything yet...but then again, I haven't tried a 4ft jump...respect my man!
