I have in my possession a Dorado Sherpa mountain bike reportedly purchased in 1984 in Marin County. Suntour XC Sport 7000 group. Sakai Oval-tech triple.

Where does this fall on the scale of interest? Notable bike? K-mart fad-cycle? What was the level of the group at the time?

Love to but my digital camera has disappeared. I'll see if the cell phone will take something intelligible.

Found some pics on the web. Here's the frame (different size):

and go here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230133552986) for more pics.

Can't be all that well known. This frame went for $19 and a full bike didn't sell at $39.

XC Sport 7000 is a very nice series. Minty rear derailleur might pull in $5o on eBay.

Off hand, I do not recall that brand, however I can tell you that XC Sport 7000, if it is original, would make the bicycle several years newer. Those components came out in 1987 and were 2nd from the top of the line at the time. Other bicycles using those components typically sold for $350-$500 US.
