Welcome to Bike Forums Bigperm. It sucks that your bike is out of commission. That's why it's always a good idea to have at least two! :D

Sorry to hear your bike is out of commission for a short time. I can only afford one of these bikes, so I better hope for the best.

yea i brought my bike from Hudson Trail Outfitters and they did not tighten everything like they should the handle bars came a loose while riding and the crank arm did the same. they now have to replace the crank arm, but I hope that scoket that the crank arm attaches to is ok. I might have a LBS check the bike over once.

funny, my left crank came right off and ended up doing so much damage that I got new cranks, pedals chain rings and bottom brackets out of it. not bad considering it was a used bike to begin with. :D

My theory is that since I'm so heavy and the previous rider was some like 160lb guy that everything was fine for him. :D

+1 to having a second bike, being heavy I'm hard on bikes so it's nice to have a backup bike to use while my good bike is getting fixed. :D

I think I put more wear and tear on my bike becasue of my weight. I just replaced the crank. I go through pads for my disk brakes pretty fast too. It is just the price we pay for moving that much mass.

I must agree I think i bent my crank a little bit because the deraileur hits the chain and makes some noise but I have only had the bike for 3 weeks. I'm going to see about getting a used road bike as well.

I think everyone is figuring out that this is one of the nicer forums around :) . This, General Cycling, and my perennial favourite, Classic & Vintage.

By the way, welcome to both Bigperm and Shubox :D !
