Curious if anybody else has ever come across this.
Extreme discomfort in neck muscles that encompass / cross your caratoid arteries. Extreme tightness in muscles covering voice box/ esophogaus?
Any thing to look for? solutions to alleviate the discomfort? Search on google usually came back filled with spam, whiplash injuries or back neck muscle pain which is not what this is.
Neck rolls help, also shoulder exercises help... but this is just in my case.

Perhaps your girlfriend is ever so slowly strangling you a little bit each night. And as you wake up from the intense pressure you realize that you were only..........."dreaming"........
Or it could be the deep inside guilt from shopping at Walmart that's choking you up.......:p
Just messin' with ya, TG. ;)

TG - don't you work with computers? Check your posture when working - most computer geeks end up with the head tilted forward which is really nasty on the neck muscles.
Sounds like your head is coming unscrewed. Remember: Lefty loosey, righty tighty! It's mighty hard to reattach once it's come all the way off. Plus, then you run the risk of crossthreading. Not good.

I didn't realize about the neck forward thing until yesterday when I went sparring (min contact)... the forward canted head is a perfect opening for a front kick.

Bingo.
That does it for me. I'm tall, and often sit leaning forward with my elbows on knees, my head at an awful angle. I started getting pains, pretty much like you describe. I was worried enough about to get an ultrasound (was fearing it may be some thyroid problem, or something). Figured out it was just geek neck.
Or, yeah, your head could possibly be coming unscrewed.
But it's not pain. It's discomfort. Very big difference. I've had neck pains before. This is no pain, just extreme discomfort: Pressure on throat/esophogaus and pressure/(possiblly some tightness around caratoid arteries)
