Southeast - Thanks to Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium and Tampa Bay Freewheelers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was in the Tampa area for a family vacation last week. While I was there, I rented a bicycle from Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium, and hooked up with the Tampa Bay Freewheelers for a 50-mile ride through some very pretty countryside. Thanks to the folks at CBE for setting me up with a nice Trek road bike (a couple visiting from AZ also on the Saturday ride had gotten bikes from CBE as well). I got a quickie FitKit for saddle height, they popped on my pedals, made sure derailleurs, brakes, and tires were all up to snuff, a little paperwork (and a CBE jersey for me) later, and I as off.

I met some great folks on the TBF ride -- Terry, William, Glenn, Armando, and others -- and learned that it's possible to eat breakfast in the middle of a long ride and not regret it. :) Still trying to figure out how a group based in largely flat Florida worked the term "freewheelers" into its name. :)
