Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - A Ride, I came across this in the Great Lakes Forum

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Any of the Hoosier Clydes up for a Century Ride? There are shorter routes as well, 62 and 34 miles each.

That sounds like a good time. August 19th is far enough away to really build up some stamina too. The only downside is that everything seems about 2 hours away from me. Why can't I live closer to these things?

Speaking of my neck of the woods... http://www.cibaride.org/nonrepeating/nonrepeating.html
It looks like I might have something to do this weekend. :)
Not too far away from me, and would like to start doing rides but my wife is already giving me the evil eye about the "Wish List" I have. I do not have "bike gear" (IE Helmet, Shorts, Jersey) so I dont want to feel out of place. My wish list is a bit over $650 already and its really just basic stuff.
Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Chain 5` w/NY Disc Lock $95.95 Amazon
Crossroads Armadillo 26'' Tire $34.99 x 2 specializedbikes.com
Deuter Race X Air II Back Pack $84.10 - Rock Creek Outfitters
Garmin EdgeŽ 305 with heart rate monitor$254.99 heartratemonitorsusa.com
Fenix P3D-CE Black CREE LED FLASHLIGHT $60 roughly
Topeak Explorer Tubular Rack $35
Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DXP $60
Topeak Alien II Multi Tool $30
Bell Influx Helmet $64
Fat Cyclist Jersey Orange $60
Vagabond Loose Fit Cycling Short $74.95 Aerotech Designs
what else I "need" is yet to be seen :)

I'm not sure how I feel about group rides yet, seeing as I haven't gone on one. I'm afraid that I am going to keep either everyone back because I'm too slow, or I'll feel like I'm crawling. I like going at my own pace.
Speaking of pace... I had a new PB today of 14mph average for a 9 miles ride. :) My previous record for a ride over 8 miles was around 11mph. :D

I should be ready for a century by August. If I can manage it, I'll try to come out for this.

The nice thing about this century is there are also shorter routes if you can't pull the whole century yet. I'd definitely like to encourage as many of the Hoosier and nearby Clyde's to join in the ride as can! Let's see how many oif us can come out for it.
Joe: Start out on "No Drop" entry rides. The club down there in Bloomington is a pretty good organization. All I can say is GO FOR IT! On a no drop ride, the pace is set easy and if nothing else, there is a sweep rider to stay with you and encourage you. If you are on a ride I'm on, for example, it's a guaranteed no drop ride because I'll stay with the slowest rider to encourage and support. For me, it's pretty much about the ride and I'm happy fast or slow!
