Took it down from the roof rack yesterday after I got home and put the front wheel back on.
In the process, my left brake level gouged the clear coat on my right rear door.
Looks like maybe it got into the paint a bit, too.

I cursed briefly and then immediately checked to see if the brake lever was OK.
It was and that was the end of that. No worries at all about the door. It's a 6 year old car. Who cares?

But then LeMond.... ahhh, that's a different story.

Actually, on Monday, the top tube dragged into the garage door frame... got some white paint on it and a light scratch. I buffed it out with some Scratch-X but I know it's still there. I could see it during my excursion yesterday. Now, THAT upsets me. Screw the car... just don't hurt my bike.

The one advantage of an MTB- In the first ride it is going to get scratched so It does not matter. The SCR went for a year without a scratch but somehow in France- I have a piece of the Sticker on the top tube pulled off. Must have been leaning up against all those walls to take pics of it.

Yeah, that first scratch on your new bike...CURSES!! Take a deep breath, unfortunately there will be more with time. :(

As far as I know, Ruby Roubaix remains scratch free (KNOCK WOOD!). Maybe that's the white workin' overtime. :D

I've scratched my Integra 4 or 5 times getting bikes into and out of it (hatchback). As it is 10 years old, I don't worry much about scratches.

I have to be careful when I load the bikes onto the Jeep. Dang, that thing seems to get taller the longer I keep it. I have a Sears Step Stool tool box that I have for my cycling tools and I've been carrying that since I bought the tandem and had to boost that heavy thing onto the roof of the Minivan.

The Jeep is only 5 years old but I still get bothered by each and every nick or scratch it gets. Equally upset when the Bikes suffer the same. I'll NEVER Change!

A 4x4 without scratches and dings is a wasted 4x4.

I was putting the BMC on the bike rack sunday and noticed a small chip in the top tube. I was horrified. My next purchase will be some black touch up paint.

Ahhh! Too True! My Jeep has it's share, but things like door dings from my own wife's car
and things that can be avoided are the ones that bother me. Now a good rock scrape along a rocker or on the rockrail is a whole different matter. Those scratches are Honorable!

Yup, I know the feeling. Had my bike leaning against my wifes car on a windy day a few weeks ago. Sure enough a gust blew the bike over, slightly scratching the car. No damage to the bike (phew:rolleyes: ).

Hey, what the heck...it's only a car. :o
