when you 'start' or 'reply to a thread, go just below the text entry box to 'additional options' -> 'manage attachments' - click and that opens another dialog which allows you to upload image files. You would 'browse' to where they are on your computer drive and the 'upload'. The only caveat is the iimage file must be under 100K in size for the upload manager to accept the upload request.
It then gets displayed as a thumbnail in your post - as mine is below
see attached image of 'manage attachments'

Other method is to embed the image directly in the message using html

not familiar with what dragNdrop things work from iphoto to Safari. But the old fashioned way is to 'save' the image out of iphoto, pick jpeg format, choose a compression that will make the file smaller than 100K, then use the 'manage attachments' method I noted above by 'browsing' to where you saved the image file and then 'upload' and close the window. and finish and submit the post.
if its still not making sense, just follow the steps, do a 'test' post with an image to your thread here, give us another fine 'image' to admire. Eventually you'll get the procedure... nothing to 'break', so experimenting is okay.

Gives me a great idea for a thread to ward off the inevitable "Had a great BM today!" thread...

How about a "Gurlz (or Guyz - as appropos) I'd like to ride a Bike with..."

I embed...

Open an account with www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) I use this one because it is the easiest (for me) to embed pics.
Upload an image to photobucket
Under the image, click on the img icon. It will automatically copy the html code to your clipboard.
Paste the contents of the clip board into your bike forums reply / thread and voila.

Seems like a good thread to try some experimenting with html imbedding. Here is the grandson, ready for his ride. http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~bierhaus/fv23%20hunter.jpg

Well it works, but not the way I expected.

Look at the HTML code in my post and compare it to yours. Note the IMG and other stuff surrounding my picture. That code was created by photobucket. If you use another service to host the pic, you have to write the code yourself. That is why I use photobucket for bike forums.

But if I attach by managed attachments I get the thumbnail that I must click on to enlarge. But what I want is the fully opened photo. No click on needed.

Not to mention the thumbnail when opened is not as big a photo as it was on my screen at 100% before the attachment.

Here I fixed it for you.

FYI...If you use the embedded technique with the pic hosted by another service, the 100K limit does not apply.

You play with that; I'd rather play with Sophia!
