General Cycling Discussion - Member Status

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was wondering what the difference between Junior member, senior member, and newbie are. Also i noticed that under some members names inside of a thread have phrases other than junior member, senior member, and newbie.

junior member, member and senior member are besed on the number of posts. not sure on the other titles, but maybe they can be changed in the profile, but more likely they are special titles for mods and such. red star is for donating some money to help keep the site goin :)

Newbie: Under 5 posts
Jr Member: 6 - 25 posts
Member: 26 - 50 posts
Sr Member: 51+ posts
Once you have 100 posts and have been a member for 30 days, you can set your own user title text.
It's a status thing, baby; even on an internet forum. No really, the designations relate to the number of posts you have made. The one you want to avoid is "banned". You can put all kinds of stuff in there I guess. I don't know how cause I've never tried, and besides, mightypudge stole my thunder with the picture he put under his name. Nyuck, Nyuck.

i like senior member personally, it gives the illusion that i know what i'm talking about :)
It just makes me feel old. The spelling is way to close to "senior moment".

Don, you can change your user title in 4 more days! Just don't have a senior moment and forget about it! ;)
100 posts in less than 30 days? Is that some kinda record? Noone can tell I live way out in the middle of nowhere can they?

Don, I used to live in the middle of nowhere, too -- in Midland, TX, to be exact.
Take care.

What would be so wrong with putting "banned" under there?
(I've already used that one!)

I can't stand those forums where the total number of posts is displayed by every name, as a kind of bogus status symbol.
You are who you are, and the quality of your posts is indicative of that. If I didn't like the stuff I read here and by implication, the people who write it, I wouldn't contribute, no matter the flattering little touches in the margin..........

We used to have our post numbers displayed but I notice they've gone missing. Did I miss a thread? I was inconsistent in my reading a few months ago so I probably did.
Not that it matters. Just curious.

If only Usenet was like this! Oddly enough, the bicycling newsgroups erupt into flame wars with annoying regularity, while the whisky newsgroups are the epitome of civilized discourse.
And of course Joe & Company keep us SPAM-free. Thanks, folks!

How do i change the status under my name? I can't seem to find it anywhere in the profiles, and i have over 100+ posts and been a member over 30 days.

You have been a member for exactly 30 days... you may need to wait 24 more hours...
Anyhow, its under "Edit profile -> Custom User Text:"
