When did THIS happen? It's horrible -- little bits of dirt and grime on that beautiful white frame. I'm speechless and on the precipice of sobbing. Why didn't any of you warn me???

Thanks but you're off topic.

Given the thick layers of dirt on my Trek, from riding the trails, I do not have any sympathy for the little bits of dirt your bike picked up. I'm going to have to take a brush to the derailleurs tomorrow.

Now, how are you going to take off that dirt without causing micro-scratches to your paint job?

Wow, speaking of the photo, I guess EVERYTHING is hurting on his body!!!!!

Nothing that liquid soap, a pail, sponge, and warm water can't resolve.

SSP, is your CycliStats software compatible with Macintosh yet? You're the owner of the company, right?

I remember winning my first Tour de France in '32. They didn't allow white bikes with platform pedals back then either... :D :D :D

Owner, Chief Technology Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Vice-President for Marketing, VP of Sales, and sponsored athlete. :D

As for Mac compatibility, the answer is "Yes", if you own one of the newer Intel-based Macs that (at long last) has been opened up to allow access to the vast array of insanely great Windows programs (e.g., CycliStats). :D I have a number of satisfied customers who are running CycliStats on their Macs using this configuration.

However, if you own one of the older Macs that's limited to only Mac-specific programs (for specific versions of the Mac OS), then the answer, sadly, is "No". :(

In all seriousness, I would love to be able to provide a Mac-specific version. But I've looked into it, and estimate it would take at least 1000 hours of work to accomplish. CycliStats is currently a one-man, part-time labor of love, and I simply can't justify that amount of time for such a small market.

Truly DG - it is an incredible thing that your bike has dirt on it - we are still wondering when you found time to ride between your posts... :D

Prior to my tour in Austria five years ago I read about a returning Canadian who was required by Canadian customs to have his bike powerwashed before they would let it into the country. They didn't want any foreign dirt coming into the country. So I spent my last afternoon in Vienna in a storage room at my hotel, thoroughly cleaning my bike prior to packing it. Of course customs never opened the box.

Have you considered the possibility that your white bike is telling you that it really wants to be a much cooler, black bike?

Windex. Windex works for everything. Use it to clean the bike, it's safe on carbon. If you have cuts or scratches, spray a little on those too. Then polish your bike with Pedro's Bike Lust. Save the soap and water for your dishes.

I appreciate this more than I'd like to admit. Even on my "rain bike" I get annoyed when I pull back in the driveway and know I've got to clean the dirt and grime off such a beautiful bit of engineering. IMHO getting a bike dirty is almost like getting jewelry covered in tar. It just shouldn't happen, but it does....

I guess you can tell I'm a roadie and don't ride off-road at all.

Paint your bike to match the dirt.

And give my regards to your son.

Do you mean to say that you don't have clean dirt in San Diego?

That settles it- From Now on -I am only Riding in London-Or at least from Tomorrow. They say the Streets there are paved with Gold.

Dirt in San Diego? I'd say wait until it rains and then just wash it off, but... rain in San Diego? I think you're in big trouble.

Perhaps on the next ride, steer through some road water ?????

Is it really road dirt or just dust from hanging in the garage?

Yeah, I know, I hate it when that happens. I just cleaned my yellow Rockhopper, I take it out and those lousy specs of road dirt mess it up. Yellow doesn't do anything to hide dirt either.

Good thing about Offroad Dirt is that you have to clean the bike as soon as possible. I am inclined to let the road bike do 2 rides before I clean it.

DG has now entered the White Bike Cult.
Very similar to classic car enthusiasts who are out in their garage at 3 AM cleaning the headlight trim with q-tips.... :D

Is that your new bike pump your son is holding? :p
