In Vienna, one can rent bikes with a credit card. They are attached by chain or some such. Putting a card in releases the chain, and one can then ride for as long as one wishes. Then, when reattaching the bike to another bike stand, the CC debit is somehow ended. This told to me by my local Austrian Consul. :) I may try this for riding around Vienna proper (and will report on this), but I am definitely going to buy a road bike for riding out in the countryside....

Yeah that jumped out at me as well. I wonder if they did the kg to lbs conversion correctly? Probably, but never know.

Also, is Paris hilly? I've never been there or bothered to investigate, so don't know. Weight isn't much of an issue when riding on flat terrain.

it's pretty flat, there are places where it goes up like going to the sacre-cour or whatever that white dome thing is called.
