One of my pairs of bike shorts I can't wear any more. My quads have grown so much that the shorts compress my legs. After less than an hour's riding yesterday, they left angry-looking red lines on my legs - the seams were pressing into my flesh.
I guess this is a victory of sorts. : -)

That's why it's a victory "of sorts" - Pearl stuff is an expensive habit. :-)

Your legs will soon get into the "freak of nature" state, which both awes and grosses out the ladies. Or at least, that's what my lady says. :D

Yep, I measured my quads yesterday and am at 635 mm!
By the way, start thinking about knicks and tights as well for cold weather riding.....the preseason sales will be starting soon.;)

On the subject of knicks, I found last year that a old pair of BDU's and a scissors made me a GREAT pair of knicks! Too bad they are too big now :(
:D
(Also, good advice, I've heard that tights are good until around 30 degrees, then you want another layer)

Depends on the tights, but yep! A Windproof layer can help a lot too.
Don't forget the feet either! Seal socks are good, waterproof and warm. Nothing worse than frozen feet in a winter ride! Neoprene shoe covers help a lot as well!
Ah the joy of riding in Florida. Shorts work year-round.
But yeah, my thighs end up with red lines in them after a ride as well. I'm not sure this is hazardous. Is it?
I see Aerotech has some new big jerseys now and the baggy shorts with compression inserts. I may just have to get a cute new outfit for summer. Tee hee :D
Be careful of the Borah Plus Men's Micro Bike Jersey, it's a little tight around the bottom of the jersey. The chest fit good on me, but the bottom was real tight. Also they fit a little small. I can where the 4x in the normal Aertech jersey and it's loose, but the 3X Borah jersey, same size as the aerotech 4x, was really small on me, had to return for a 4X borah.

Good to know, Brian, as that was the one I was looking at...The Green and black number :D

It's also not green, it's neon yellow. I'm mean I could be seen 15 miles down a curve road on a pitch black night sort of neon yellow. I could have been confused as having been dipped in Nuclear Waste kind of neon yellow. I was slightly blinded when I pulled it out of the bag neon yellow. I needed to wear a welders helmet to package it back up and send it back kind of neon yellow.
I could go on, but I think you get the point. :roflmao:

Perfect! Exactly what I need around here. These blue-hairs driving their 5,000 pound OldsmoBuicks rarely see me until the last minute, even when I am blaring reflective tape, lights and reflectors.
Have you tried those baggy shorts with the compression shorts inside? Are then cozy?

I try to never say never but...
I really can't imagine what it would take for me to wear bib shorts. I'm not even sure they should be legal.

No, just the lycra shorts and bibs. I am dedicated bib wearer now.

Brother, you just have no idea how much more comfortable they are. I'll never wear anything else.

Wow, there's a brighter yellow than my Nashbar jersey? I need to get it. Thanks Brian!

Speaking of quads, that reminds me: I was just noticing my husband's legs the other day--he is a firm believer in "relaxing" and "just pedaling" and thus using his hamstring muscles. He has big hamstring muscles; they actually bulge, like biceps on an arm.
Works for me! ;-)

OK...Wait...I'm going to get humungous thighs*?
Bikes for sale, email me.
But wait... women don't got those big muscles like guys do, right? I've never seen a female biker with giant thighs....

Woman cyclists do get bigger thighs than their noncycling counterparts, but they also look better! Nothing like a well muscled leg....:D

Women don't have enough testosterone to build or maintain muscle mass like men do. Your legs might get a little bit bigger, but mostly they'll probably just get firmer, tighter and more toned. Just all part of a more athletic look.
