Great Lakes - Milwaukee: A Place To Watch The Tour

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'll be at the Hyatt in Milwaukee for the first leg of Super Week and will need a bar/restaurant nearby that will show the Tour.

I'd like to be able to ride my bike rather than take the car.

Anyone have insights?

Boy ... that's the question of the month! (I know it's only the 6th).

First, I'd see if the Hyatt, where you are staying, can hook you up. It's all about service right?

After that, try some of these east side bike shops. More than likely have more than one USCF racer and may have some insight:

Rainbow Jersey (http://www.rainbowjersey.com) 4604 N Wilson Dr Milwaukee, WI 53211 (414) 961-1110

Ben's Cycle & Fitness (http://www.benscycle.net)1018 W Lincoln Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53215 - (414) 384-2236

The Bikesmiths (http://my.execpc.com/~bikesmth) 2865 N Murray Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211 - (414) 332-1330

Here's a Google Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&btnG=Search&um=1&q=bicycle+shops&near=Milwaukee,+WI&fb=1&view=text&sa=X&oi=local_group&resnum=1&ct=more-results&cd=2#) showing where they all are.

I'd like to know what input anyone else has.

You might also ask at the races. Try the announcers if they know anything. If not, perhaps they can ask the crowd. You might get a response from someone like: " Hey, I got a big screen TV on my patio right on the Lake, I love throwing parties, C'mon over !!".

You never know unless you ask!

...or maybe "Hey I have a 19in B&W TV in my dairy barn, and a dorm fridge full of Schlitz and cheese. C'mon over !!"

....^oh for cryin' out loud....get over it already.

MAYO....live coverage on VS 7:30 to 10:30 most mornings. I watch it and then go ride at 10:30 a.m.

Evening coverage usually starts at 7:00 and goes to 10:00.
I have no barn....
I have no cheese....
I do not squeal like anything....
I do not have a big screen....
I have a normal little 'ole TV in the cycling room....cold beer and snacks.

I'll be at the Whitnall Park race again this year on that Tuesday I believe it is.

Can I crash on the floor? All I need is a shower and a place to sleep. I'll pay you for it.

I could be real popular and bring my Direct TV dish out to registration after work each morning. Anybody got a big TV to run off car inverter power?

How about that for racing memories? Remember that series we did where they had the Tour on live each morning ??? :)

Anyone here watching it daily?

July is really cycling month around here.

Early AM: Tour on TV.
Late AM: ride
PM: Spectate at Superweek.

For TWO weeks ! http://www.freedomcrowsnest.org/forum/images/smiles/woohoo.gif

Unless you're racing of course, then it's eat-race-sleep-Tour-repeat ! (again ... again ... and again ... )

Wheel & Sprocket on Santa Monica blvd in Glendale also. i believe they have it in their Sunday ad that they are showing it and a nice ride out of downtown up the lakefront. They may even have cheese or you could stop at Sendiks on Silver Spring on the way and buy Brie and some snooty wine rather than our usual Merkt's and PBR out in the barn.
