Road Bike Racing - My life in proverbs:

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

When it Rains, it Pours:
A couple days ago I made a post about taking a hiatus from the forums due to some unexpected life occurrences. In a nutshell, my fiancee and I thought I might have cancer, a previous job offer was rescinded, and things for the wedding were falling apart. I needed to remove some distractions, get things in order, and prioritize things in my life.
When God closes a door, he opens a window
Fast-forward to today. Saw the doctor, turns out it was a varicocele (Google it if you want but it's gross). I got over the job thing and have interviews lined up, and the wedding is sorting itself out. Oh, and I got an early wedding gift (scroll down for pics)... thanks to all those who offered words of support. It's like when family or friends come to see you race: it gives you that extra motivation to put your head down and push through. Y'all are like family.
2004 Zipp 404's. Bought by my wife-to-be from one of the local racers.

Yes, that was the biggest fright of all. Nothing scarier than the thought of losing a soldier.

incorrect.
there's nothing scarier than waiting for the pathology results after they've cut out one of your 'soldiers'.
trust me on this one.
now about that steerer... ;)

I will only warn you once on this BD. Those Zipp stickers are a MASSIVE pain in the ass. Be careful not to tear them when you apply them to those nice 404s.
Great news all the way around. I'm having your fiance around made all that easier to bear, eh? I've been married for 15 years, and we have been very happy. I hope you have a similar experience.
Now if you'll go back to being inscrutible, everything will be in balance on BF again.

Actually, I think i'm going to leave the decals off. The team I'm joining is Mavic-sponsored, and I'm pretty sure they won't let me flaunt ZIPP.

BTW, your C'dale is HOT! I'd leave the stickers off the wheels, but give that steerer a bit of a circumcision before you poke your eye out! :D

And she bought you that bike? MARRY NOW, do not wait for ANYTHING.
Great news bd, but now we are going to see a thread a day from pcad about how Zipps not only make you faster, they cure cancer as well.

And I'm pretty sure slvoid could help you out with some "Lightwieght" stickers, if you're in the mood.

that was a nice thing to do Greg :)
Im glad you're OK bd, I had a similiar scare about cancer last summer, was the longest wait in that cold hospital room waiting to find out if it was breast cancer.
You get the news and it's like you're giving a second chance to never take anything in life for granted again.
glad everything turned around for you!

I'm glad to hear that life's "curveball" only went 55 feet and bounced past the catcher for a wild pitch.;) How else could you explain how a terrible situation turns into a pair of Zipps!:)
Your bride to be sounds like a keeper. You are a lucky man.
