I have an early 2000's Lemond Tourmalet with a Reynolds 525 frame. I bought it used and found out that the rear triangle is misaligned, and I was wondering if it was possible to repair it; two bike shops have told me no so far, but I figured I'd ask this knowledgeable crowd.
The drive side triangle is bent out (to the right) by 18.4mm and the non-drive side is bent to the right by 8.8mm. The net result is that the dropout spacing is 139.6mm, and both triangles are shifted to the right by 8.8mm.
The shops I went to explained that, if they tried to bend them back into shape, the frame would just flex back into the incorrect position. Personally, I didn't think this was that big of an adjustment, and I hate to throw away the frame from a bike I just bought.
Does anyone know if this can be repaired? I love this bike/frame, and I don't want it to go to waste. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
