So my ultimate TDF fantasy. A French rider wins it all (Hey ,I said this was a fantasy). So for the first time in years it looks like we will have a champion that wont't have his integrity challenged. Then while whole country is going crazy, What ? He tests positive for some banned substance. Then the Frnceh press and racing establishment can tear them selves to pieces accusing each other of incompetent administration of laboratory testing. They will scream about how the tests are flawed, not fair, adminstered by incompetents, how the whole process is toatlly unfair to the athelete. The whole decadent European sports community goes down in flames. All the best teams and riders move to America and the new pro tour races only in North /South America and Australia. Testing and the appeals process is managed by a truly independant and unbiased organization. Cycling replaces pro foottball as the countries most poular spectator sport. One great side effect wil be that ticket prices will drop and I could actually afford to go to a game once in a while. Oh yeah since nobody else wants one Los Angels finally gets a pro football franchise.

yeah that is a big fantasy, but would love to see it happen...especially a french rider winning and then getting caught in a doping scandal.

I don't want to see any winner of the TdF caught in a doping scandal... It would be nice to have some human-like efforts in this tour and no doping charges at all. That's my fantasy.

Actually, my fantasy TDF?

The directors announce that they're dumping WADA for anti-doping and instead will work with the cyclists to develop a plan and choose a fair manner of instituting dope tests and choosing of labs.

I think someone on here offered a good start. Three samples are taken for each rider, each one by a diff. lab. If the "main one" tests positive then the other two labs (one chosen by the rider, one by the UCI from a pre-accepted list) each test it. All three have to test positive for it to count.

Enough with the feel-good warm-fuzzies.
