Wow, that's the first thing in this world that has ever struck me as simultaneously f'ing cool and f'ing stupid.

I doubt I would last more than a minute riding the thing. Laughing that hard would make it a tad difficult to pedal.
I wonder how much it weighs...
Weight weenies need not apply:D It was fun to ride for the cool factor alone. Obviously it wasn't built with long distance comfort in mind, but it has like 56 gears or something. You could pedal it straight up a hill :D
illeagle- why stupid? The guy likes bikes and built a pretty cool and unique one. Don't hate bike related creativity just because it doesn't happen to suit your tastes :)
edit- it's all bicycle, no motors
Love the tractor seat & the manly glare that gives it that tough guy appeal.
"One-of-a-Kind" is an understatement. I don't know what I think of it, but I'd like to ride it around in an effort to find out! :)

Needs racks, lights & fenders.
Dude, you have to go back and get some close-ups of that drive train.
And what's up with the rotor under the seat?

I know I do not have the strength to power that block of steel for too long I will stick to my longing for a X check

Random thoughts:
COOL!! Definitely one-of-a-kind cool. Not a practical bike, but it's obviously not supposed to be.:)
He could save some weight with a solid fork.;)
Hard to take a "Clint Squint" seriously from a guy wearing flip-flops.;)
The rotor under the seat looks like the rear brake, to me, but that's a SWAG.
It looks like he has a rear cluster up front instead of shifting to different chainrings, then another rear cluster, then...Oh pffft, I don't know.:o Can you get some close-ups in better light? That drivetrain is either real ingenious, or a real Rube Goldberg.:D

That top tube is scary. Imagine what would happen in a front end collision

It sucks because it's impractical. So big deal. It's not pretending to be practical.
As goofy as it seems, I do think that's one mutha cool bike.
The hard man stare is the icing on the cake.
Now how 'bout a pic extravaganza of all the crazy crap you have going on with that drivetrain, huh?
What's with the disc brake under the seat. You're using that via the drivetrain to brake the rear wheel? Wacko jacko dude.

56 gears  WICKED
It looks like the back rotor is attached to an internal gear hub. I don't know what the hell it's turning, possibly a second internal hub? 7x8=56, so an 8 speed hub with a disk turning a 7 speed right behind it, or maybe a Rohloff turning a 4 speed IH?
I have no idea what the hell is going on in the front. Someone took all day getting that drive train lined up right, awesome.
{edit}
I followed the 4 lines coming from the handlebars. 2 are hydraulic lines for the brakes, one goes to a front derailleur and small cluster just forward of the bottom bracket, the last one has to go to the internal hub with the rotor. If the front cluster has 4 chain rings and the brake hub is a Rohloff then 14x4=56 gears, but a Rohloff has 2 shift cables so there should be 5 lines coming from the handlebars to be that set up.
BAH, we (I) need close ups of that, please.
Oh and how does a chain brake work on a freewheel hub?

If you look close, he even has the nostril flare thing happening

BAH, you rode that thing, eh?
Does the guy who made it own and/or work in a prototype shop or something? Or maybe a custom motorcycle shop? (I notice it says something about motorcycles on the tube)

Thanks, my thinking voice just went up an octave just pondering that outcome.
I reakky can't understand the relation between the two clusters and their chainline, and the rear chainline (with an internal hub up front?). Dear God, now I must ride it.
Oh yeah, and liek someone said...how on earth does that disc brake in the middle there work with a freewheel? (Freewheels...free...hubs...freewheelz?? :o  )
And there must be a huge amount of money in that beast, even if that isn't a rhollof. If it is...wow.

I've got a short commute, that would be perfect. I would especially love locking it up in the Johns Hopkins school of public health bike rack :D

If you ever get such a bike, you must post a picture of that. :D

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I don't think he does. I got the feeling he's just a bike tinkerer. He's got another creation that I'll post up when I get a chance to go through that set of photos.
AllenG - I didn't take many shots as we were in a smoking hurry, but I think I have some closer up shots of the drivetrain etc etc.
It was a little tough trying to pull off the tough guy look, especially since I was grinning like an idiot just about every second I got to sit on and ride it around :D

My first thought is its a cool looking bike.
My second thought is the engineer in me saying, "Why does it need three intermediate drive axles? One would be sufficient."
Looks like it should be rideable if completely impractical.

Get that engineer in you to quit talking and start building one :D
