against cell phone drivers, im surprised my friend took it well cause the person who hit him will owe him enough money to repair this one and throw some on the side for his Mach 1

Ouch!

Good luck on the repairs and I hope the car was insured for Appraised Value because otherwise, the insurance company is going to try to screw him over!

Gah, put a warning in the title! That hurts to look at.

The person who was on the cell phone and rear ended that car should suffer a very slow and very painful death via tupperware container lid.

That's by far the most wrong thing I've yet seen here at Foo. And that's saying a lot.

(cries a little)

damn. that really hurts to look at.

i love it when people build up older cars with modern touches like that.

Modern touches? Would that be when a modern car slams into the back of an old one?

I'm surprised nobody commented on the terrible gas mileage that Mach 1 surely got. It's a nice car though. Well, it was anyway.

'Tweren't no Mach 1, that.

Gas mileage is more important to some people than it is to others. Some people want the car to be as efficient and out-of-mind as possible, while some people want to drive and have fun in a cool car. The two aren't mutually exclusive, of course, but eh.

Eh, someone mentioned it up higher. I'm not a Ford person myself. Give me a 1950 Chevy P/U and I'm in heaven.

One small consolation: every body panel on that car should be available from one source or another. Even a complete body shell is available now.

There are many nice older cars out there that are cherished by their owners, but since they don't have the popularity of the 1st gen Camaros nobody is stamping out replacement parts. One good hit and it's adios old friend.

I think the first-gen Camaro is one of those cars where the aftermarket parts arena is so thorough, you can build one almost entirely out of a catalog. You might need a frame to build off of, but after that, you can buy everything else new.

the damage is estmated at 3 grand he might get more if they find any mechanical parts that might have been rattled. most of the body work is gonna get done by a friend so a lot of the money will be redirected to the Mach1

Holy crap! I like fast cars, but I think I'd actually be genuinely a little scared to climb into that beast.

"If satan were a car, this would be satan."

That cellphone driver didn't give your friend any small love tap there. Shameful.

:(

Shouldn't be too hard to fix, especially if the frame stayed straight. But still, :(

The Camaro isn't a full-framed car. If the structure is tweaked it can be made as good as new, though.

Given the fuel hoses are exposed, I guess it's lucky there wasn't a fire from them or the tank rupturing.

Aw, man! I still think that is one of the most appealing body styles ever to come out of Detroit. Every Camaro that came after that paled in comparison.

Bah! I'm gonna say I think the frame is bent, by looking at the body damage. Nice car. :(

FWIW, whoever posted that video can't spell... it's Vauxhall...

Anyway, I am a car enthusiast (one that cares about fuel economy, though,) and despite that car obviously not getting the greatest economy, that thing was BEAUTIFUL. ****ing JAMs...

(My approach to the fuel economy debate? TDI. Fun to drive AND better MPG than a disconnected Prius.

Of course, a V8 TDI out of an Audi A8 in that thing? That thought makes me hard...)
