Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I raced.
I found out there's hills up here.
I attacked often.
I had a break away that lasted 20 minutes.
I was truly alive.
I was sent to the back of the pack by an official.
I attacked again and again and took charge for a time.
In the end, I did not win and only finished middle of the pack, but it's better to go down in a blaze of glory than just sit in.
That is all.

You got sent to the back of the pack from your break?
Hrm?
Or was it a yellow line infraction after you got caught?

Good to see they still hold that. I used to be the race director of the GA State Games track event.

Heck yeah, I'd take a race full of attacks with a midpack result versus sitting in and getting like 8th-20th in a sprint. Well done! Which category did you race? We had a teammate win the 5's and a teammate that got caught at the line for 2nd in the 4's. Not sure how our 3's and 2's did.
I've been working night shift all week so I'm probably going to skip out on tomorrow's crit, but I might come to cheer the team on though. You going to be there?

Yellow line infraction. However, I honestly think it was questionable, and the official might have too because he gave me a suggestion which I used to get back at the front the minute he said go. But, considering the race course was on a highway (wha???), I respect their need to be extra vigorous in enforcing the yellow line rule.

I was in the 5s. Your team-mate is a nice kid; we were chatting in line waiting for our race numbers pre-race. I plan on being in the crit this morning.

well written report. i felt like i was there with you.
I was in that break with you. My game plan today was to do anything other than a group ride with a bunch sprint, so I guess my mid-pack finish was ok with me as well. It was good meeting you, and maybe I'll see you at a race again.

Nice going, Ken. Use your time in the 5's to try a lot of different riding styles to see what works best for you.

I agree its always better to ride agressive than to sit in. Makes the race more fun!

I'm planning on coming up to play again for the four races at the end of the month. Everyone I met up there was truly hospitable and welcoming.
