Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Big in ALL SORTS OF WAYS.

So I'm probably always going to be a Clydesdale. I'm big-boned and just plain tall.

Am I the only person who not only needs the largest framed bike but also needs XXL gloves?

there is nothing wrong with that....

go to a race sometime and look at the clyde's... Those guys are 200+ but hardly fat or out of shape.

Nope. I ride a 25" Trek 7200, and that is a tad small. My XXL gloves are a bit tight as well. You are not alone. I'm big and tall as well.

It's called "Perma-Clyde." Welcome to the club. 6'6" 245, and even if I drop to 0% bodyfat, I'd still be 220 pounds. The only way I'm getting "emeritus" status is to hack off a leg.

I used to ride a 62cm Trek 2100, and I still needed a long seatpost for the proper positioning. I've got a '91 Stumpjumper (whatever the largest one was) and there's a country mile of seatpost between the clamp and my saddle. As for gloves, try the Bike Nashbar $10 specials: Crochet back, leather palm, Nashbar house brand. Got mine on sale for $7 a pair, and the regular XL fits pretty well. (I wear a double-X in most brands.)

Ask around on the forums, and I'm sure someone can tell you a good brand for a wide fit. I got some tiny feet for being this tall (only wear an 11EE) so I can fit in most brands.

Don't sweat it. that's why they have the category in competition. Just means we have to make sure that the gear we buy can handle the weight and torque we place on it.

In a real endurance event, you would end up eating the real skinny guy. :)

65cm bikes, size 50 or 51 shoes (US 15s), 48 Long jersey, XXL gloves. But I'm not buying your "big-boned" story.
If you decide to buy real bike shoes, post again. There are several sources, not always dependable, but they've been covered here many times.

Size 13 1/2 shoes, xl gloves, etc. Finding an XXL helmet was a real challenge. I ended up with a skiing helmet and I still use it in the summer because nothing else will fit. I just take out the insulating layer and use a bandana instead.
