Here's the out half of the approximately 75 mile out-and-back I'm planning for tomorrow. This one begins in lower Ashland, Virginia, has a nice long flat section along the Pamunkey River and through some high plateau cornfields, then a hilly section through a civil war battlefield site, finishing in New Kent County. Forecast is for 93 and humid, so I'm hoping to get an early start.

I'll add pictures tomorrow night if I get any nice ones.

Turns out 75 miles was too ambitious for this 95-degree day. By mile 50 I had bonked from the heat, and basically crawled the last 25 home. The pictures aren't great, but I did enjoy the irony of "McClellan" and "Peace" together here in the heart of the Confederacy.

Yes, that's a long ride for a hot day. Twenty-five miles is a long crawl. Thanks for the pictures.

Look at them Hanover tomatoes!! My folks live in Mechanicsville, work in Ashland and go to the river in Tappahannock. Those are great representative pics of the area. You're giving me ideas on where to ride when I go back to visit. Thanks!
