Pacific Northwest - which bike to choose feltF75-vs-raleigh supercourse

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey there,
I am a relative newbie and I have narrowed the choice down to these two bikes. I rode them both and cannot decide which is the better bike? total carbon (supercourse) or the combination of the felt75,they both were speed machines to me. I liked the components of the felt better than the raleigh, but they could be upgraded with the price quote I got for the raleigh equal to the price of the felt. Would the carbon frame be more comfortable for a ride like the STP or would the felt ride just as smooth. I ride a 58 or 59 size frame. Pleeese help me with a little advice. I also like to support local companies and raleigh is close to home, but what has the word on the street been about the replacement of a carbon frame from raliegh?

My personal feeling would be to lean to the Raleigh. I've had the pleasure of encountering some of their employees whilst biking the Green River Trail (the headquarters is right on the GRT, at Brisco Park)--they were out there with a commuter stop on 'Bike to work' day, and they seem like a great bunch.

Mind you, they don't actually make bikes here, it's just the headquarters that's here. I have not heard of any problems with warranty issues (the Road Cycling forum may be a better place to ask this question). You are correct about the components, but yes, they can be upgraded when you decide to replace them. I do think the full carbon frame would be more comfortable for the STP. You aren't talking about THIS year's STP, are you? That's cutting it a bit close :D .

Anyway, good luck with the STP, and Welcome to Bike Forums!

Haven't ridden the Raleigh but I have a Felt F30 and I'm very happy with it.

A Felt will usually have better components than a similarly priced bike.

How much are they asking for them?

Hey there I got the quote for a supercourse for $1050. I thought that it might make up for the 1400 price for the felt f75. Thank you all again for your input and advice.

The former owner of my LBS, who now curiously works for Raleigh was always a big fan. He said this year's supercourse is a ton of bang for the buck.

For that money, you could always dress up components in a couple years as your need/interest arises.
