Training & Nutrition - Your favorite quick meals & snacks?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've got a pretty bad diet that I'm trying to break out of. I just turned 25, and my metabolism slowed down a ton over the past year. So my beloved Big Mac, Dr. Pepper, etc, just aren't cutting it any more.
I'm also noticing how my nutrition surrounding a ride really effects my endurance and ability. Thus, I'm trying to improve my diet overall.
What are your favorite quick meals & snacks? Any and all thoughts are welcome, not necessarily cycling-specific.
Thanks!

Sushi
Mmm sushi. Stay away from baked rolls thought!
When I am lazy I just open a can of tuna. Plenty of protein and almost no fat. Put that on some bread, some mustard (the good kind), fat free sour cream. Delicious!

Kashi GoLean bars. Wal-Mart sells them for 96 cents each, and they're actually filling!

I carry a supply of dried fruit, a protein bar and occasionally as a treat a muesli bar (yes i know they arent good for you) a quick meal before I run is usually a tuna and salad roll with a scrape of mayonnaise or anything with protein in it.

More white meat, like chicken and pork. Lots of fish. My intake of red meat has gone way down. I still enjoy the occasion Five Guys Burger and Fries, but not as a rule anymore.
Nothing white. Everything whole grain or multigrain. Barilla Multi grain pasta is pretty good stuff. I've switched my coffee sugar from white to the raw stuff too.
My favorite snack is Edys Pralines and Caramel frozen yougurt topped with a cup of summer fruit salad. Sams Club sells those big gallon containers of the stuff. I go thru about 1 a week.
Funny thing about fruit. The more you eat it the more you want it.

Bananas, apples, grapes, figs, fig newtons, carrots, baked chicken, multi grain breads, tomatoes, etc
I took some advice on this forum and tried HEED last week for during my ride. Great stuff. Goes down nice and smooth and not too sweet. Seems to do the trick.
My next long ride will have HEED in both bottles along with a few figs and a sandwich or banana.

I've had some crazy eating habits over the years. When I was 26, I ate mostly Ravioli for lunch and dinner.

All of the above plus when all else fails, the good ole peanut butter-jelly sandwich is very hard to beat
Anything Kashi. Great stuff there.
I consume all the cherries I can afford when they're in season. Great bike food and leaves a great aftertaste.

On really long rides I bring along a knife and steno kit so that I can eat those tasty road kills I encounter. :p

I like dried fruit. Particularily dried cherries. Cherry yogurt is really special to me. Before a major ride, it's always Trader Joes, "Cherry Crunch,' breakfast cereal. another favorite. a juicy peach.
