Well I've been commuting everyday for over 2 months, have logged over 1500 miles on multiple bikes, and I'm still as fat as when I started. Why? I love to eat and drink beer. I'm drunk right now, and in a couple hours I'm getting up to do 50 miles of moutain biking.
You may be asking why you should care, or why I bothered typing this. I'll tell you, the weight loss will come, the strength will come, the endurance will come. It all just takes time. I was never into the commuting to work for weight loss. I want to do my part to prevent global warming. I have noticed though in 2 months that even though I quit smoking I have lost 10 pounds (most people say you gain weight when you quit.), can go a lot further than any one I hang with, and I feel a lot better. I now can ride well over 30 miles a day.
So anyone out there gettin discouraged, don't let anything get you down, whatever you are trying to accomplish will come in time. I will get my weight down from 265 eventually, and I will be able to ride further. It simply takes time though, so to anyone who is getting discouraged, hang in there, good things start coming soon.
Sorry if I don't make a lot of sense, I'm drunk, bored, alone and wide awake.(I just got back from a family picnic, so I'm not drinking alone.)
