Some of you fellow old sorebones may have realized by now that a good bath is an essential means of keeping the limbs moving. Particularly if you're commuting and have a little extra around the middle, as I do. I thought I'd see other people's methods to get tips. Here's my own sore bones bath:

--Prepartory clean-off shower with pine tar soap
--Extremely hot soak with lavender oil or if I'm really sore Singah's Mustard Bath
--In-tub yoga
--Five minute blast with intensely cold bottom-of-the-pipes water

If I had my druthers, I'd have a nice sauna and some birch branches to smack my skin with but no such luck. This is as close as I can get. The mustard bath really is amazing stuff.

Metrosexual much? (kidding!)

Do a search for contrast showers. One of the finest recovery tools known to man.

Hasn't lavender oil been linked to estrogen production in men and the production of b*tch tits? BE A MAN!!! Use epsom salts or oatmeal.....that's what both Paul Bunyan and Chuck Norris use.

You have the best day ever!

no pre shower and no hot water. when needed i blast the tub with only cold water. all the way cold water. so cold i scream like a little girl when i sit down in it. put on the ipod. for or five songs later i am out drying off. it greatly reduces swelling and pain. the legs always respond well to this and feel completely refreshed the next day. later.

Epsom salts.
Epsom salts.
Epsom salts.

Seriously, they're great. 1/2 a package, hot water, 30 minutes. When the bitter taste hits your mouth, you've absorbed enough of it through your skin. Magnesium and sulfur are great minerals. Much more effective than "just" a hot bath or "just" a cold bath, any day of the week.

I'll try that contrast shower method. I usually don't switch back to warm after the cold blast. Instead I just keep making it colder. Works wonders for the skin.

I've found mustard bath salts are the fine wine to epsom salt's "chillable red". I haven't gone back to epsom since using the mustard bath powder.

Yeah, like bicycles make you impotent ;-) If you search the internet enough you can find one quack or another making some claims to rake in the $$.
