I'm thinking it was living in a house by myself instead of apartment or condo that killed me. Look at that "shelter" score.

I have kids and short commute, so that probably brings down score.

Hey, I was a vegetarian for 7 years, began to eat meat again, and I'll never go back. I feel much better eating it 2-3 times a week. That said, I know very well being an omnivore has a larger eco footprint. Nothing political or skewed - it's just common sense.
I do wonder if hunting your own meat has a smaller footprint - assuming you're not using up lots of fossil fuel getting to where you hunt. I also wonder if there's any change in footprint size when you eat organic, locally-raised meat. With the exception of Australian lamb, almost all of my non-seafood meat is from local (within Cascadia region) sources.

My hometown is PETA's hometown too. I know and admire many vegans. But I freaking love red meat.:p
I do too. :) I eat meat and eggs, but almost no dairy. Honestly, if most Americans would just not eat so dang much meat, we'd be using far less resources all the way around.

Er... 20. Guess I can climb down off my self-righteous high horse now. :(
I think I should get some credit for being a freight biker. (90% of the deliveries I make would be done by cars if I didn't do them).
I'm part of the problem and not part of the solution. I need to make some changes. Maybe sire a bunch of kids to share my living space :D. I can cut down on meat and processed food. I'm car-free but I do ride in a car once a week, five to ten miles. I will bike that trip more often.

And I'm in same boat as you.....living by myself is what killed my score. On top of that, living by myself in a house and not an apartment/condo.

Yes, and for good reason. I heard about this website on an environmental interview segment on the radio this morning. One thing the guest mentioned was that its reported that meat production (I'm not sure if that was only meat, or all animal by products, like dairy and such too) were responsible for about 20% of emissions killing the ozone.

I think my real score is less than this... I fly maybe 50 hours a year, but the choices were 25 or 100. The flying messes with my carbon footprint, too... aside from that, I'm doing pretty well.
