VeloNews has nothing yet - anything on the late news over there about xray results?

I'd be very impressed if he sprinted to the win with a broken wrist.

Thus I don't think it's broken, or tour-ending.

Heres a quote from him about it....

Robbie McEwen (Predictor-Lotto): "The boys bought me back into the bunch and I honestly can't believe I won the stage. But that is huge. I thought I had broken my wrist when I first crashed. I was pretty pissed off actually and the guys just did an awesome ride to get me back It was a good day but now my wrist is swollen and my knee is sore. But I am worried about my wrist as it's swollen considerably. I'll get some ice on it and see how I come up tomorrow."

I'm hoping you're right, since at the end he did the whole pointing at the chest routine which would be challenging with a broken wrist.

But I was reading his interview and it sounds like he was ready to drop out after the crash except most of his team was standing there ready to pull him back up to the pack.

Guy is amazing no matter what. I'm still not believing what I saw today...

I was just sitting at home on the couch when McEwan crashed. I said to Robbie 'Get back on son, get back on, you can do it!' And he DID!!

I'm amazed by my super powers.

It was similar to last year when I said through my TV 'Go Floyd!'. Although that didn't quite work out as I'd hoped... ;)

Adrenaline (sp?) can do wonders with broken wrists, legs, arms, etc....

That was one awesome piece of riding today no matter what.
If his wrist is broken ... then even more impressive!!!

I crashed on a fast group ride in January and broke my wrist (chip fracture of the dorsal triquetrum). I got up, thought my wrist was sprained as it hurt along with many other parts, got back on the bike (half the group stopped for me), and hung on the back at 26-27 mph for 10-12 miles. Over the next 4 hours the wrist became so swollen and painful I couldnt hold a toothbrush.

Thus he could have won with a broken wrist. Tomorrow will tell the tale.

It was amazing how the announcers helped set up the Hollywood finish - it could have been written by a scriptwriter. They kept talking about which sprinters and their teammates were at the front, and kept saying stuff like "no sign of McEwen". It was just before the sprint really took off that they gave one hint - something like "we haven't actually seen Robbie, but there's a rider in his team colours not far back" or something like that.

I wonder if they saw him and were deliberately keeping quiet for dramatic effect, or if they were as surprised as we were when he rocketed past.

I don't think so. Robbie is generally able to "hide" in the group pretty well. He's small (relative to most sprinters) so that helps. He's also perhaps the best bike handler in any group which helps also.

It did make for a great finish though! :)

Echoing the last 2 posts. Hes a stealthy rider Robbie is. Love how he only comes into viewing at the last moments. Fantastic win.
