OK, again, not really. Ran into Lucas on the trail today. Had seen him before but never really spoke with him. Today we met, spoke and rode together. Ran into him at the Honda Center waterspot. Talked about bikes, checked out his sweet wheels, his new roadie, then rode into the sunset. VERY PLEASANT friendly man!

Looks mighty purdy on that beach path, Beanz. Thanks for sharing! :) Gina looked like she was telling you a thing or two in the close up shot! :p

I also crossed paths with Team Wheaties. Saw them coming at me but didn't reach for the camera. Had a line behind me and couldn't take the hands from the bars!:( Would have been a Kodak moment!:D

I was sick to my tummy on Friday night. She was sick yesterday. I had promised her an ez ride today. Didn't turn out that way so she had plenty to throw my way!:D

Hi Beanz!
Great Photos! I saw you for a micro-second on SART 4th of July (we were going opposite directions), and the SART was almost as crowded as the 405 freeway along there, with a variety of traffic (bike and otherwise) traveling at different speeds and various levels of control.
In other words, really exciting in a not-too-fun way!
Been doing mostly club rides since Grand Tour, but rode GMR today (to the ski lifts!) with Linda and Art.
So Beanz, now that you're on days . . . when's your first double?

She is one tough chick though! At one point a tandem went by powered by a couple we used to ride with. They told us to jump on then picked it up to 23 mph. Gina said go for it so we did. We held on for a while but luckily we had some riders behind us that we had to wait for!;)
Then, you can't tell from the pic, but Gina's right cheek is lower than the left. She complained a bit on the return that her hiney was hurting. When I lifter her bike to load onto the truck, I realized the right rail on her saddle was broken. I don't know how she rode it that way!:p... We stopped at the shop on the way home, they gladly replaced it free of charge!

I saw you there too. I called out your name but not sure if you heard me. Doubles? I've been telling Gina that I'm felling the spirit coming on. She says go for it! 08 will be the year. I figure since I'm in shape, I'll go for the KOM too! I think it's time to lift the pace again!:D...Heck, I might even have a CF bike by then!:p
That dude Nacy has been talking about it too!

Hey Fred,
I would have taken pictures, but I forgot at home. This was our first Team Wheaties ride since the accident. Gabriel REALLY loves riding with matching Jersey's.

Ah ha, i did see ya'll out there. :) I was doing a 50 mile ride along the trail between 8 and 11am. I guess i didn't recognize you without your yellow jersey. In fact, judging from the guy walking along the trail, i was probably passing ya'll on my way back right around the time you took those pics. I remember seeing Lucas at the back of the paceline but didn't realize it was the rest of the Beanz Crew out in front.
I too saw Team Wheaties on my way back. :)

Rick,
Was the GMR portion with or without the dreaded cars?

GMR was still without cars, but Sunday was the last day (for awhile, anyway). GRR was open to traffic (mostly motorcycles), and of course there were lots of cars going up to the lifts.
Now, regarding the "dreaded cars" part, all of the cars/trucks (and all but one of the motorcycles) were quite responsible and cyclist-friendly. That one motorcycle (Kawasaki Green crotch-rocket) was way over on the wrong side of the road, going quite fast.
Overall though, and even when GMR is open to traffic, there really isn't very much traffic, and the vast majority are no problem at all. So, while of course I do prefer it "closed to motor vehicles" it's not bad, even when its open.

Agree on the "isn't very much traffic" part, I will need to just get used to having it part of the climb and decent. As it is now, after the GMR climb and as I start GRR to the village, I have to remind myself a few times "there are cars on this part of the ride", and stay alert for this. This is what makes GMR so nice/the big bummer too see it end:(
