'Time to Win' Armstrong Warns Tour Rivals (http://asia.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=sportsNews&storyID=3079103)

This section baffles me:

Armstrong was not surprised that Gilberto Simoni of Italy and Santiago Botero of Colombia lost large amounts of time.
....
"Even I was surprised to see them fade like that," he said.

It's a completely STUPID article- they completely misquoted him and then misquoted him again when they titled the story. Read this part:

"In the first week of the race you're not riding to win, you're just trying to stay out of trouble and not lose it. Now it's time to try and win, which I always prefer."

Where's the warning in that quote? I don't see it. And where did he say it's "time to win"? Again, misquoted.

What a dumb@ss...

The whole article is slanted in a negative manner to make Armstrong appear arrogant, when they took soundbytes and pieced it together for an article- and a bad one too. Any good writer would have been able to quote correctly and put together a better piece.

Ok, I just dashed off an email to the woman over at Reuters who is in charge of this dribble- I sent a rather scathing email where I quoted this guy and showed where the grammatical errors and violations of the English rules are.

Then I volunteered my services as a reporter to France if this @sswipe can't get his act together and put together a story that makes sense. :D

I was serious.

I'll keep you guys updated if the woman actually responds.

He misquoted.

He also summarized something Armstrong said, but then he quoted what he summarized a few lines down, and the quote is nothing like the summary.

Bad use of the rules of grammar when it came to quoting in general. He even misquoted the actual quote! Even the National Enquirer knows better than to do this.

It was a badly written article. Who knows, maybe they'll take what I said to heart and hire me to write for them next summer!
